Christopher Bieker May Campership download...

The friends and family of Christopher Bieker May have established a memorial fund to provide camp scholarships for deserving Scouts.  Christopher practically grew up in the Boy Scout uniform, from the days he became a Cub Scout with Pack 221 and later a Boy Scout in Troop 221 at Kenwood School in Hammond in the early 1970's. He continued Scouting as an Eagle Scout and as a member of the Order of the Arrow.  As a graduate of Wabash College in 1986, Christopher went on to pursue a career in civic responsibility as a police officer.  He joined the Fulton County Police Department in Atlanta, Georgia in 1988.  He was scheduled to enter the field of Federal Drug Enforcement in November of 1991.

But on August 19, 1991, that dream ended when Christopher was killed in the line of duty, attempting to apprehend a sniper in a quiet Atlanta suburb.  An hour before he died, he used basic Scouting skills of First Aid to save the life of the person shot by the sniper.

Christopher, born November 22, 1963, was 27 when he died, but his life was full in great measure due to what he learned and gave in Scouting.  The scholarship fund is being offered to other boys, who may take the opportunity to fully experience Scouting at camp, and thus round out their goals and ambitions as Scouts.  This will honor Christopher, who exemplified the Scouting ideals of valor and honor.

Chikara Yasuda Campership download...

In 1976, after returning from Kishwaukee Reservation, Chikara was killed in an automobile accident. He was 20 yrs. Old and lived in Iruma City, Japan. Chikara was a student the Green Language School and a high school graduate. As Junior Assistant Scoutmaster, he had attended the Tokyo Wood Badge Preliminary Course. Apart from these other outstanding qualities, Chikara was the first international Scout elected into the Michigamea Lodge of the Order of the Arrow. Because of the excellent qualities and concern for others that Chikara showed, to those of us on Camp Staff with him, and because of his great Scouting abilities, we of Michigamea Lodge offer this fund for some Scout to go to camp because we know Chikara would not want to see anyone miss the excitement of Camp. This fund is for Scouts who need financial help to go to camp.
